You Go Doe!

Doe the deer jumping the fence into Betty's yard. I decided to name her "Doe". She has been somewhat of a regular in the yard since just after Christmas. Now spring is here and everything is growing again, so she will be missed. For city dwellers like us it was always a welcome sight to have a bit of Canadian Geographic in the back yard.

The deer were not a daily occurance, but they were regular visitors, usually 2 or 3 times a week, since the real cold arrived. Due to the closeness of the Thames river and Stoneybrook Creek, the neighbourhood is flush with geese, ducks, deer and the occasional wild turkey. I bought the place because I thought the treed yard would be a good place to photograph cardinals, and it is. There is just way more wildlife than I ever could have imagined.

Sailing Away

Here she is ... all four hooves airborne! I'm curious if this is the same doe as from the previous post. She visited the yard to munch on some bushes and get a drink of water out of the birdbath. The deer can't see me through the window, so I get a fantastic opportunity to photograph them!

Boxing Day Doe

Here's a doe that was sunning herself in a neighbours' garden today. Click on the image to see the larger version. The houses on the north side of the street quite often get deer stopping in to sun, rest or snack. We are a little more fortunate in that on the south side of the street they don't usually stop to eat or rest. Normally they are just passing through.

Because of our proximity to both Stoney Brook and the north branch of the Thames river, we have deer all year round in our neighbourhood. I think it's cool considering we are a city of 350,000 population.

It's Here

The weather reports are calling it the 'storm of the decade'! The yellow on this image indicates that the snow is falling at the rate of 2 cm/per hour. This is a photo taken of the radar image from the Environment Canada weather webpage The Weather Office.

This is a great place for weather fans! It is full of all sorts of info besides up to the hour reports. You can find it here.

Tim Ray

Tim Ray, the pianoman for Issa's performance at the London Music Club.

Adrienne Pierce

British Columbia's own Adrienne Pierce opened for Issa at the LMC Tuesday evening. It was great music from the start and it just got better as each song was sent our way. If I had to describe the atmosphere, I would call it 'live and intimate'. The Big Hall holds around 200 people. It is just such a great venue to share this kind of talent.

As usual, it was a superb musical evening at the LMC. Hats off to Pete and Jan.

Issa Live @LMC

Issa performed live at the London Music Club Tuesday evening to a sold out crowd. The unique talent performed an evening of all new songs, save for the second encore which featured a past anthem, Calling All Angels.

The lady still sports the fascinating voice that captivates. As always her musical story telling is unparalleled. Proving once again that less is more, Issa was backed by pianoman Tim Ray.

Wild T And The Experience

Here's Wild T And The Experience at the London Music Club in London, Ontario. Oct. 6, 2007. The guitar is as good as Jimi Hendrix or better, the voice isn't pure Hendrix, but it's very, very close and at times it seems like it is the real Jimi.

Either way, Tony Springer is a virtuoso with the axe. Even on a Thanksgiving Saturday, with Toronto & Montreal playing, the hall was pretty much full. The Big Hall seats only 195, so there isn't a bad seat in the house!

The only bad news is that the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Habs. Lol.
